What influenced you to join FFA?
I first got involved in FFA because the local FFA officers were looking for another team member on the soil judging team. Although I wasn’t an official member yet, I took on the opportunity. I always knew I loved agriculture but I wasn’t a farmer so I didn’t think FFA was for me. After that experience, I realized it was more than just farmers and it offered countless opportunities. A simple invitation from my peers is what inspired me to officially join the organization and become more involved.
What inspired you to serve as a State Officer?
Being new to the organization I never knew what state office was. Until I met Jeremiah Ihm, Parker Litterick, and Tyson Gehrke. They made the biggest impacts on me as a member and a student. My goal someday was to become a role model and a friend for the members in Section 4, just like they had done for me. After many conversations with teachers, members, officer teammates, and past state officers I decided that I could make my goal a reality. Now I hope to be a valued leader and friend in the Wisconsin FFA.
What are your favorite FFA experiences?
I could go on and on and say that every experience is my favorite but there are a few key ones that have gotten me to where I am today. State and National conventions have helped me form friendships and memories that I will cherish for a lifetime. Competing in Career Development Events like Dairy and Soil Judging have helped me challenge myself to learn new things and taught me to always give 110%. And lastly some of my absolute favorites are Leadership Development Events. Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Parliamentary Procedure have helped me become a confident public speaker and an advocate for agriculture and the FFA.
What are your future plans?
My future plans are to continue my education at the University of Wisconsin - Platteville. I will be studying Agriculture Education and Agricultural Business. After college, I hope to someday become an Agricultural Educator and FFA Advisor.
What is something members should know about you?
I don’t live on a farm and I don’t know everything about agriculture. This organization is a gateway to so many more opportunities. I would love to get to know more about members from all across the state. I love to listen, laugh, and tell stories so never be afraid to reach out whether it’s for advice or just to chat. My team and I are full of excitement for this year and this year will hold so many opportunities and memories for us all, I can’t wait to spend it with each and every one of you.
